Bad beat

- The experience of having an excellent hand, only to be beaten by an even better one, especially when the winning hand was won on the river.

Bet

- The act of adding money to the pot.

Blinds

- The compulsory bets in Hold 'Em, placed by the two players immediately to the left of the dealer at the start of each hand. The small blind is placed by the player to the left of the dealer, and the big blind by the player next to him. The big blind is usually twice the amount of the small blind. These bets, like the ante in other poker games, ensures that there is a pot to play for on every hand.

Bluff

- To pretend you have a good hand, usually by making large bets, in the hope that your opponents will fold because they believe their hand is beaten by yours.

- See community cards

Bullets

- An ace.

Button

- A marker (eg a wooden or plastic disc) that is physically placed in front of the player assuming the role of dealer for the current hand.
